The Trustee Company

The Trustee of the Plan holds around £27 billion on behalf of beneficiaries.

Royal Mail Pensions Trustees Limited (RMPTL) is a trustee company (also sometimes known as a corporate trustee) which has legal responsibilities. The Directors of RMPTL are required to act in the same way as individual trustees would.

There are 11 Trustee Directors: five are nominated by Royal Mail Group, four are nominated by the unions, one is elected by a ballot of pensioners and the Chair is an independent trustee, who is appointed by Royal Mail with the agreement of the unions.

To help the Trustee operate effectively, it has six Sub-Committees which meet regularly:

Administration
Audit and Accounts
Discretions
Internal Disputes Resolution
