How will part-time working affect my pension?
In respect of any period of part-time working before 1 April 2008, the final pensionable pay used for working out your benefits built up before 1 April 2008 is calculated using full time pay for your grade not the part time pay. For members of Section C, the full Lower Earnings Deduction is made from the full time pay. Your pensionable service counts as a proportion of full time service.
In respect of any period of part-time working on or after 1 April 2008, the CSDB Pensionable Salary (Section A/B definition of CSDB Pensionable Salary or Section C definition) used to work out your benefits built up on or after 1 April 2008 is based on the actual pensionable pay that you receive and not the full-time equivalent. For members of Section C, a reduced Lower Earnings Deduction will be made, to reflect your part-time hours.
