Running a pension plan is a complicated and demanding process, with many safeguards, legal requirements and professional standards with which to comply.

The main legal responsibility for the Plan lies between both the Royal Mail Group (the Company which sponsors the Plan) and the Trustee of the Plan. This section explains more about the role of the Trustee, the administrators and the professional advisers which assist in running the Plan. In the case of the Royal Mail Pension Plan, the trustee is actually a company - called Royal Mail Pensions Trustees Limited or RMPTL.
