Welcome, you're in Section C

The RMPP lets you build pension savings with help from Royal Mail. When you retire, you get a regular income for life, with the option to take a tax-free lump sum.

This area describes the benefits for members who joined the RMPP between 1 April 1987 and 31 March 2018. There are separate areas for members who joined before 1 April 1987 and on or after 1 April 2018.

Your benefits are made up of 3 different parts

Final Salary

This is the pension you’ve built up to 31 March 2008. It’s based on the number of years and days you worked up to then, and your current pensionable pay.

Career Salary Defined Benefit (CSDB) pension

This is the pension you’ve built up from 1 April 2008 to 31 March 2018. You earned an amount of pension each year based on your pensionable pay and these are revalued over time.

Cash Balance

This is the cash sum you’ve built up on or after 1 April 2018. You pay contributions of 6% and you build up a cash sum at a rate of 19.6% of each year’s pensionable pay. You can take this amount as cash or income when you retire from an external provider.
